The Dead Kitty Copter
This takes Monty Python’s dead parrot sketch to a whole other level.
And the responses are mixed: from “cute” to “hilarious” to “utterly tasteless” to “completely grotesque and definitely not funny.”
Bart Jansen says he loved his cat, Orville, and was very upset when Orville was killed by a car. (Note to already angry readers: Jansen lives in the Netherlands, where it’s considered wrong to lock cats up indoors. Quite the opposite of the general rule in the U.S., many shelters won’t even let you adopt a cat if you have no way of letting her outdoors.)
Jansen, an artist, always imagined Orville being able to fly when he was taking flying leaps, so he decided to memorialize the kitty in a way that would fulfill his dream. He had Orville stuffed and turned into a helicopter.
The Orvillecopter – half cat, half copter – is now on show at the Kunstrai art festival in Amsterdam.
Orville is flying quite well, but needs an upgrade. “He will receive more powerful engines and larger props for his birthday,” Jansen said.
Here are two videos. The first runs less than a minute and just shows Orville in flight:
The second starts with an interview. Jansen describes how much he loved Orville, but there’s something a bit unnerving, at least, about seeing Orville in his new form, close up.
What’s your reaction? A fine tribute to Orville? Or off-the-charts disgraceful?

Jansen's elevator doesn't quite reach the top floor. He is either a liar and a disgusting jerk, or he is honest in his love for his cat, and he is simply devoid of respect, dignity, class, and also creativity, when it comes to honoring a loved one who has passed on to Heaven.
In short, either Jansen is mentally ill, or his "copter" story doesnt fly.
I hope someone does the same with HIS remains so he finally realizes what a disgraceful act this is.
This isn't about Jansen...the heck with HIM. This is about Orville's right to dignity after his passing.
Orville DOES fly, due to His Angel Wings, not because of his disturbed owner's "idea".
This photo shouldnt even be published, UNLESS, we are also in favor of depicting dead human bodies, being manipulated in nutjob ways, also.
I cant even look at the picture. What a disgusting story.
P.S. Those who think this is hilarious: The Men in the White Coats are on their way. Don't resist them...obey them for your own good.
Disgraceful, definitely. How can he even look at the body of his dead pet and be okay with what he's done? Wow. Then again, I'm against taxidermy in general, helicopter or no helicopter.

Horrible. This guy may think he loved his cat, but where is the respect? That he has a cruel streak is obvious from his enjoyment of frightening the cows. I'll bet he tortured animals as a kid.
